Effective Traffic Management System – The Need of the Hour for Indian Roads

As our country is increasingly moving towards urbanisation, the numbers of private vehicles on the roads are also growing manifold. An increased flow of traffic calls for having a detailed, researched and efficient traffic management system in place to ensure a smooth and safe flow of traffic.
Traffic management is a crucial area of focus for the urban dwellers and planners as a daily commute to work mostly become the most exhausting. Sometimes the traffic signals are not working; sometimes there are major breakdowns with no quick measures available for dispersal, and all these lead to the roads being choked, accidents and general chaos on the roads. An effective Road traffic control system will take care of all these and go a long way in keeping the road users safe and allow them to use their time more productively, rather than wasting it on the roads.
The increasing numbers of vehicles on the roads are adding to the already existing strain on the infrastructure of the current roads. Also as research highlights, the increase in the total road area is much slower in comparison to the number of cars being bought. This is further escalating the problem of traffic congestion, mishaps and fatal accidents. All these factors are sounding warning bells and crying out for a capable and intelligent traffic management system before mayhem hits the roads.
An Efficient & Intelligent, Traffic Management System, benefits in the following ways
    Improves safety of the road users
    Improves efficiency of the transport system
    Enhances mobility of the commuters and the effectiveness of the road network
    Reduces fuel consumption and negative impact on the environment
    Increase the productivity of the economy
Institute of Road Traffic Education (IRTE), a research-based non-profit organisation is an endeavour to improve the traffic management system of our country. It conducts exhaustive studies across the country looking at the root cause of the rising distress on the Indian roads. Working in partnership with corporates, government and the regulatory bodies, IRTE is committed to scientifically improving all domains of traffic management in which safety is an inherent virtue.
